As seven artists who love the ocean, our mission is to use our art to help keep our oceans clean and healthy.
The paintings in The Bigger Picture art show share our visions of the ocean in all of its magnificence and beauty. All works are at least 6 feet in dimension.
We decided to paint big for many reasons. Painting in this large format is a great challenge for each of us individually, and we will need to stretch ourselves as artists in order to accomplish this. We also realize that it is a big challenge for us as a group to create a cohesive show and raise funds and awareness for ocean protection. Large paintings also have big impact, and symbolize the magnitude of the oceans vital role in our planets health. Protecting and restoring our oceans is a big project, involving the entire global community.
It needs big ideas and big solutions.
It is no coincidence that our show occurs during Coastal Clean-up Month — a portion of our sales will support these efforts. We see our art as part of the Bigger Picture, and our contribution to preserving our treasured marine resources.
